Up for your consideration is this Lionel WWII Taffrail Log. Made By Lionel Mfg Company. This is like new in the original box. Has all the necessary components as delivered to the US Navy during WWII. The original line and equipment is in great shape. Please review the pictures as part of the description.
The way these were utilized ....there are mounts labeled Aft that were mounted on the back rail of the ship. One mount held the speed indicator. The other mount supported the line, weighted fly wheel bar and then torpedo style spinner.
As the ship motions through the water, the torpedo will spin, which in turn spins the line which will operate the speedometer that will register how fast the ship was traveling through the water.
The original box is present although kind of rough. Shipping will be FREE to the continental US only please.
It is pretty amazing that the box has even survived. Rare opportunity to own a Lionel Piece of History! These do not show up in this condition with the box and everything intact including the line. This is part of the products that Lionel received the “M” for Merit for wartime production!!
